Vet came out today! Blood was pulled for the Coggins, all his shots were given, health certificate done! Just have to wait for the Coggins and Health Certificate in the mail, and we will be good to go! I found a horse transporter that said they could move him up there on Feb 23rd, but they ended up saying they couldnt do it, after I planned everything around that, even had the barn up in WV notified, so my frantic search for a trailer, or horse transporter began! I lucked out today though! I found an ad on craigslist to where they rent out their trailers, gave them a call, and WALA!! Got a trailer!! I couldnt be any happier at the moment!
Rodeo was probably the best for the vet today than he has even been! Limited dancing when it came time for the blood to be drawn, and he passed his physical with flying colors! Said he couldnt look any healthier, and that he is a perfect 5 on the scale! Yippee! My hard work has paid off!! Im just so excited, thrilled, and relieved with
Went out and lunged Rodeo today. He was pretty full of himself sue to the weather, and me packing up for the big move. He looks good, in my opinion though! Vet comes out around noon tomorrow, they are giving him all his shots, pulling blood for his coggins, and doing his health certificate! Yay! That much closer to moving him! Move date is also set! Feb 23rd, Im hoping that we can get Rodeo moved up then as well, but may have to be a bit later depending on which horse transporter we decide on. Hes going to be so much happier in a big open pasture with 8 friends to run around with!
Today was a very boring day! Although the rain stopped, the ground is still very wet from all the rain, so didnt do anything with Rodeo today besides feeding him!! Awful, I know!! Have quite a bit pla
Vet is coming out Monday to update Rodeo on all his shots, to get his Coggins pulled, and to get his Health Certificate done! Yippee!! We're that much closer to getting him up there, so I can go up there! Although the trip for him coming down wasnt bad for him, due to my awful cell reception at the time, I was a psycho maniac, and ended up busting into tears the night he came down due to lack of contact due to no fault of theirs, but our cell phones. With that being said, I told my hubby that I would not be going up there until Rodeo was up there as well. And looks like we are on our way of that happening! I found a transporter that had the cheapest quote, and if all works out, Rodeo and I will be up in West Virginia no later that March 11th!
As you can see in the picture, Rodeo loves his little buddy Jager, but its still not quite the same as his horse friends
Not a lot new going on with Rodeo to be honest. He is still here at home in my back yard, I guess the most recent news as far as Rodeo goes is that we are moving back to West Virginia! He will be boarded back where he was before up there, on a gorgeous 10 acre farm, he'll have 8 other horses to go out and play with!
I guess the reasoning for me not doing a lot with Rodeo is I want him to have some time to grow up, you guys know I hopped on him about 2-3 weeks before his official 2yo birthday with the vets permission. I put about 8months riding on him, very light riding. Since bringing him home he has done wonderfully undersaddle, but I just thought a break wouldnt hurt him, so why not?!
Hes pretty content back there at the moment, I can tell he gets bored here and there, and Ill take him out back and lunge him, and he gets all his bucks, head tosses, and energy out. Obviously dont want to work him too hard with him being pretty much a pasture puff lately, but honestly, I dont feel bad about it! Hes looking shaggy with his winter coat, and hes just relaxing. Once I get him back up into West Virginia, we'll go back to work. They have a round pen there, which I couldnt be any happier about, so looking forward to that! Will keep you guys updated!
Feel free to take a look at Rodeo's best friend's site coming up any day now!
