I was going to give Rodeo the day off, and just clean up outside, but it was too nice of a day to not ride! My mom pushed Kaleigh in the stroller, and I rode behind with Rodeo. He was great! We went ahead a few times, and had some nice long stretches of trot, and some really nice overdo lopes! Rodeo was fantastic, and didnt put a step wrong! I decided to get some photos of him while the weather was nice, and got some pics of little Kaleigh up there too!
For the past 2 weeks or so, Rodeo and I have been doing great with getting back into, and staying into consistent work! Rodeo has been doing really well, and seems a lot happier getting the attention! His muscles are starting to build back up, and hes enjoying getting out and about! Weve been doing a lot of riding and lungeing, and focusing on staying forward, and moving while we ride! Been doing slow trot work, serpentines, and circles! Starting to get back into trail riding as well, but I am always leery about that during hunting season! Farrier is scheduled to come out on the 7th! I am very excited about that, as this is a new farrier for us! Photos were taken of our ride from earlier this week. Feel free to check them out on Rodeo's facebook page, or even mine! I have taken so many photos of Rodeo since I bought him that there is just no way that I can upload all of them to here, or to his page!
Its finally feeling like Fall here in North Carolina! I love the Fall! The cooler temps, and changing foliage has always been my favorite time of year! Rodeo likes the cooler weather too, and with cooler weather comes better weather for riding! I decided to take Rodeo for a ride before work, weather was perfect! Rodeo was amazing as ever, we went off on the side road, which we havent been on in months, and he was great! Didnt spook at a thing, I jumped a few times with dogs barking and running out of nowhere, but he wasnt phased the least.
We even came to a house where a little girl was waiting for us to pass, her grandmother asked if I would give the little girl a ride, so she hopped on with me, and we went for a slow jog and came right back, its like Rodeo knew there was someone little on with me that didnt have great balence, there was literally no suspension in his jog at all, it was great!
After that we headed back home, and played for a bit in the yard, hes just so personable its insane! Here is the photo of myself, Rodeo and my little girl from the other day :)
It is insane how fast time flies by!! I had no idea that it has been as long as it has since I have posted here, thank you to all of the people that have visited this site since it has started and since my last post, which was in March! My last post updated everyone to my surprise, that I was pregnant! Well on August 12th, at 11:59pm, Kaleigh Mae Griffin was born! She was 3 1/2 weeks early due to me being diagnosed with preclampsyia, which is another word for high blood pressure. She was born weighing 6lbs 8oz. After 24hrs in the hospital after birth, we were both relased from the hospital with clean bills of health!
Since she has been born my life has changed dramatically, and has revolved around her. I still found time to visit Rodeo, and aganist my drs orders, 2wks after delivering Kaleigh, I hopped on Rodeo. He was a champ as usual, and didnt put a foot wrong, but then again all I did was get on and get off. A few days later, we were back to riding!
Now 8wks after having Kaleigh, Rodeo is back into regular work. My pregnancy took a toll on the poor guy, although he got out of the pasture often, he wasnt in regular work, and lost quite a bit of muscle mass. So we are working on building muscle back up! Hes been so good under saddle, that Kaleigh at only 8wks of age got to get on Rodeo with my for a few photos! She was asleep, but I have sat her on him bareback while hes been eating, and she loves the little guy, and Rodeo seems to love her!
