I hopped on Rodeo today, havent done a thing with him since the last time I rode him, and he was great today! It was a windy day, and I decided to go and see if we could figure out how to find that field. We did! Bummer is that although its an open field, its a cemetery, and its fenced in, not that if it wasnt fenced in Id go out there, but just means Ill have to find another way to figure out how to get to the trails on the other side! After we saw it, we got back onto the main road, and we trotted the entire way back home! Perfect short ride! I also got Rodeo a new rain sheet. Although the weather is mild here, and I dont blanket Rodeo, last year there was quite a bit of freezing rain, and since we still dont have a shelter, I figured it would be a great idea to get one! Well it came in today! It looks great on him!
Had an awesome ride on Rodeo today! We usually do a loop once we get to one of the dirt roads down from the house, but today, we went all the way to to end of the road, and discovered a gated water community! How neat! We didnt go into it, as Im not quite sure the rules, but we also found a ton of trails in the woods! That made me want to do some research, and I found that there is also a large open field that lead to more trails, and in return could be a great ride! Ha
Took Rodeo out for a ride today. Rode him out back behind the house, and did a lot of forward work. Just wanted to work on that cruise control, wanted him to trot when I told him to trot, walk when told to walk, canter when told to canter, and then of course stop when I told him to stop. He did pretty good, and was a lot of fun to ride! Anyways, here are some photos from todays ride! More photos at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rodeo-Time/200915893357415?fref=ts
Rodeo was born! He is exactly 3 1/2 today! How time has flown by! WOW! Its crazy to think that hes getting as old as he is already! It doesnt seem possible!
I took Rodeo out for a ride in the side yard today, he did really well! Im super sore today, dont know why, woke up like that, must have slept wrong, so we didnt do anything too straining. Just worked on giving to bit pressure, turning, circles, fle
Finally was able to get a farrier out to trim Rodeo's feet! Ive been trying for weeks to get someone out, and I think I found a great farrier!! He came out today at noon, and trimmed Rodeo right up! Its been a really long time since Rodeo has been trimmed, which I know, shame on me, its awful! But Rodeo's feet really didnt look back until this past month or so. Well we're on the right track now! Rodeo wasnt great, but he wasnt awful either! He did pretty well overall!
With all the fall weather lately, Rodeo has been full of it! Since I havent done anything with him for so long, a lunge line session was in need before I decided to get on him. He was so lazy!!! I brought my husband with me, and he couldnt believe
Made Rodeo do some work today! We didnt go anywhere, stayed right in the 2nd lot, which isnt huge, but its big enough for us to canter a circle easily in the lot. We worked on walking a circle, then trotting, and finally the lope! How I love that little horse's lope! Its so smooth, slow, and nice! It doesnt bump or bounce you around, its a nice slow rocking motion that Id say would be perfect for people just learning how to lope! Well anyways, he did really well until I asked him to canter going to his left, could not get him to break into it, he just would not do it! I know thats his off side, but my goodness is he stubborn! So he ended up lungeing that way, and cantered the entire time! But overally,
Today, I really just wanted to get on Rodeo. We didnt work on anything really, just went down the road and trotted back. He was good, two little dogs came chasing us, I know he wanted to kick them, he had his ears pinned back, and he was swishing his tail, but he was good and didnt kick at them. A little stubborn on the way back, we really need to work on backing up, anytime I ask him to back up, I get resistance, and his head straight up in the air. So that is something we need to work on for sure. Been watching some Clinton Anderson, episodes are on about the off the track TB, and I really like what he has been doing, so I think next time I ride Rodeo we will start to work on
